Storm Eunice Aftermath
Regular park users will have noticed there was damage following the passage of Storm Eunice in February. A large Ash tree near the top pond lost a big limb, but should itself be fine.
Another large tree, a Horse Chestnut near the aviary was virtually split in two by the storm and a significant amount of timber fell towards over the path which has been cleared. Sadly the tree has been left with a serious tear and is now dangerous. A path below it is temporarily closed.
Work will commence shortly to remove most of the tree leaving a large stump, which should be helpful for biodiversity. Larger pieces of wood will be saved for play and will initially be moved to the composting area near the upper pond.
